Apple chips

Fall is here! The air is cool, crisp, and filled with the aromas of all things pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon. With all these delicious treats surrounding us, it can get pretty difficult to resist and maintain the healthy habits we built up all year throughout the holiday season. These addicting apple chips are not only delicious and easy to make, but will help you satisfy your sweet tooth without sacrificing your health.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of apples (10-12 apples)
  • Cinnamon (2 teaspoons)
  • Brown Sugar (1 cup)

2-3 hours

 

You will need:

  • Mandolin
  • Apple corer
  • Baking Sheets
  • Baking spray

Preheat your oven to 250. Start by washing your apples, you are leaving the skins on so you'll want to make sure they're extra clean! Once washed, be sure to thoroughly dry them - you don't want them to slip out of your hands while slicing the apples. Remove the cores from all of your apples using an apple corer. Then set your mandolin to the thinnest setting and start slicing! Be careful not to rush this process as the apple slices will be delicate and easily breakable

Once you’ve sliced all your apples, spray your baking sheets with the baking spray. Use a small bowl and combine your brown sugar and cinnamon (adding more or less to taste), mix together. Coat the apple slices on both sides and place on baking sheet. Do not overlap!

 

Place baking sheets in oven and bake for 2-3 (the time will depend on how powerful your oven is). You’ll know the apples are done when they start to look dried out. They may not be completely dry when you check on them in the oven but once cooled, they’ll be nice and crispy.
